Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guideline: Chronic Wounds of the Lower Extremity

INTRODUCTION Rationale and Goals Chronic wounds of the lower extremity, a well-known condition with high prevalence, high cost, and poor clinical outcome, are often managed by a non-integrated healthcare system, resulting in an inconsistent care pattern. In an effort to provide guidance on this topic, ASPS has developed an evidence-based guideline for assessing and treating chronic wounds of the lower extremity. These guidelines reflect the consensus of a task force of recognized experts in the field of wound care, convened by the Health Policy Committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
